This diorama evolved from my coming across the cute little baby/toddler figurine, and deciding to build a room around him. The scene is in a 12″ by 10″ contemporary wooden storage box that had been whitewashed. I wallpapered it, and turned it into a Victorian era display.
Most of the contents were made by artisans, although I made the two framed pictures (purchased frames), the perfume tray on the shelf and painted the pitcher on the wardrobe. The little flower basket in the right corner is actually an old ceramic brooch and lace nestled inside a handmade basket.
If you look closely, you will notice the 1983 Christmas plate, which, of course, would not have been around in Victorian times, but the plate has a special meaning for me, and I decided to add it to this room.
