I created this 1776 room box in honor of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Although this is not an actual scene, it is what I imagined a formal dining/meeting room in Philadelphia at the time might have looked like. It features Benjamin Franklin and George Washington, wearing their Masonic aprons, as well as Martha Washington. Also, you may notice a copy of the Declaration and a map of the original thirteen colonies on the gate-leg table, as well as a light supper of bread, sausage and ale. The lighting would have been by candles, and there are a number of them around the room. The candelabra in the center of the table and the carriage lamp on top of the china cabinet look like they contain candles, but they are battery powered. The final photo in this series shows the room box lit up, but Patrick Henry has taken a place by the table.
