This colonial style kitchen is what I imagine one would expect to see around 1800. A bit after the US Revolutionary War, but still in the colonial period. The mother is using her carder and spinning wheel and the little girl has her doll and some embroidery she is working on, while her brother sits by and eyes the food preparation items on the trestle table. The room features a large brick fireplace, used for heating as well as cooking, and many pieces of artisan handmade pottery. A real room like this would most likely have included a window and door, but I often take “poetic license” with my designs, especially since the fourth wall is usually just an open space in room box.
