One of my favorite rooms to depict in miniature is a kitchen, preferably a primitive or country type kitchen. I just love the old wood tones and homey atmosphere. This particular room is actually a sort of combination kitchen and dining room – a gathering room. The style is more primitive, and a room like this could have appeared almost any time during the 20th century and beyond. I keep it decorated for autumn year-round, with its warm and inviting colors.
It features a tavern style trestle table in green, with four chairs that I hand painted and antiqued. There are various artisan and commercially made accessories, including some handmade glass “canned” vegetable jars. There is a basket hanger from the ceiling in one corner, with several artisanal baskets, a large open fireplace and an old-fashioned cook stove.
Now, to explain the name of this room: The container for this creation is a vintage wooden Canada Dry soda crate, complete with the Canada Dry name on the ceiling of the room.
