The original (full-size) Stephen Fitch house was built around 1737 in Willimantic, CT, and then moved to Old Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts in 1939. This 1:144 scale replica of the Stephen Fitch house was created by an artist I only know as “Hogan” in 1989. The roof was removeable and the second floor slid out. I then furnished the interior (although that is not an accurate depiction of the inside of the house). After it was all finished, I moved it into a repurposed antique wooden cheese box, and added some trees, a “brick” wall and a pewter thimble from Sturbridge.
A 1:144 scale dollhouse is often referred to as a dollhouse for a dollhouse. This Stephen Fitch house is only 3-1/2″ long, and the whole box it’s in is 9″ long and 3″ high,
