Technically, this should be called “Wildlife Garden” because there are so many more animals in here than just birds, but the idea was to attract birds with various birdhouses, feeders and a birdbath. This scene could be in the back of a city house, as well as in the country. The “brick and wrought iron” gate sits along the front of the wooden crate that holds the contents, and can be removed to better view the partially hidden garden. The gates can also be opened. In front of the whole scene stands a brass deer, as well as a lilies in stones miniature I made.
Some of the animals are tucked under the settee, and others are partially hidden – they include a hedgehog, a possum with babies, a Golden Retriever with a butterfly on its nose, a black cat, squirrels, a duck and a rabbit, not to mention numerous birds. The aviary sitting atop a “brick” shelf was made in England. The garden also features a beautiful wisteria vine on the wooden arbor, as well as many other flowers and bushes. There is an old rusty gate in the back left corner, which would lead into a walkway to the house. In addition, there is a small statue of St. Francis of Assisi, a gazing ball and an aged sundial. And, there is a tiny antique gnome figure that belonged to my father when he was a child, underneath the large bird feeder.
